Troop 351 camped near Fossil, toured the John Day Fossil Beds National Monument, and dug for fossils at Wheeler High School.




We toured the Painted Desert and Sheep Rock units of the National Monument, taking numerous short hikes.


We camped two nights at Shelton Wayside County Park, where we worked on advancement and hung out in the evening.
We went to the John Day Fossil Beds Visitor Center, then to Cant Ranch for a picnic lunch and hanging out. At right, all 21 of us descended on the drive-in in Condon for lunch on the way home.


Sunday morning, we searched for plant fossils, digging and splitting rocks in the fossil beds behind Wheeler High School in Fossil.
