Eagle Creek Hike, June 6, 2010

After some strangely bad luck with our scheduled campout for first weekend in June - first our reserved Paulina Lake campground opened late due to snow, and then our replacement campground Willamette Mission closed two days before our intended arrival date due to flooding - Troop 351 instead did a 10-12 mile hike up Eagle Creek. The numerous waterfalls were overflowing, and it rained non-stop as we ascended and descended.

Just after we entered the Wilderness Area, we faced a crude log to cross over an unbridged stream. The adults crossed very carefully, while George has just pranced across the bridge and stopped for a picture

Scouts ham it up at Wyeast Campground at the 5.1 mile mark. Two of our Scouts did the math, decided that they wanted to do no more than the 10 mile hike called for by the Hiking Merit Badge. The rest headed up toward Tunnel Falls.
